About the Owner Camp Lafayette

Camp Lafayette was a dream that I had after being a foster home for Colorado Shih Tzu and Maltese rescue.

Anyone who provides love, compassion, food and a warm bed to a dog who is in a state of need knows what it is like to want to do something for them.

At the time I started fostering I also had a job with a veterinary clinic and realized that boarding an animal in a kennel type facility was hard on the dogs health due to stress, loneliness and a constant state of barking dogs.

I felt that there was a need to reduce their stress by creating a home environment for them to stay at while their adoptive parents traveled.

I have 10 years experience with both large and small dogs and several different breeds.

My goal is to keep the dogs in a confined area, but make it the focal point of the home. The area is big enough for them to mingle with other dogs, is comfortable with lots of warm dog beds, water, places to get away if they are shy, and has access to the outside if necessary. Play time and potty time are always supervised to prevent any differences of opinion!

Lots of toys are provided for those that are bored and they get socialized often. Our home has an ideal set up for this type of arrangement and the dream took hold.

The yard is the size of two lots, fully secured, with lots of trees and lots of grass. There are even squirrels which run on the top of the fence helping to add hours of play while the big dogs try to track their progress.
